2020 CHS Youth Education

Programs 

To follow local health department safety guidelines, we will clean and disinfect before youth arrive and after they leave. Youth who are sick should stay home. Youth may be dropped off and picked up curbside. All participants must wash hands with soap and running water upon arrival and have their temperature checked.

Paws After-School Club

Our Paws Club meets weekly at Cache Humane Society throughout the school year. Participants will learn about a variety of pets and how to take care of and interact with them. They will be introduced to opportunities and careers in animal welfare, interact with the shelter animals, do service, arts/crafts, and play games.  

Age: 7 to 12 years old at start of semester  

Cost: $50 per semester, includes Club T-Shirt

Schedule: 4:30-5:30pm every Monday (except major holidays)   

  • SpringJanuary-May FULL
  • Fall: August-December 

Group size: is limited to 10 participants.

Requirements:

  • Youth waiver signed by parent or legal guardian
  • Wear club shirt

Junior Volunteers  

'Junior Volunteers' is a supervised volunteer group for teens.  For the first 45 minutes we do chores and various tasks around the shelter. For the remaining 45 minutes the Junior Volunteers help socialize and train shelter animals. 

Age: 13 to 15 years old at start of the semester 

Cost: $30 per semester, includes Volunteer T-Shirt

Schedule: 4:00 to 5:30pm every Wednesday or Friday (except major holidays).

  • SpringJanuary-May (Wednesdays or Fridays)  FULL
  • Summer: June-August (only Wednesdays) FULL 
  • Fall: August-December (Wednesdays or Fridays)

Group size: is limited to 10 participants.

Requirements:

  • Go through Jr Volunteer orientation
  • Follow simple instructions
  • Wear Jr Volunteer T-shirt
  • Ready to work, learn, and have fun!
  • Youth waiver signed by parent or legal guardian

 


PAWS & Read 

Paws & Read is an activity where kids who want to help at the shelter can come read to the animals for 20 minutes. This not only helps the animals but will help your child get their 20 minutes of reading in for that day! A WIN WIN!

For the remaining 20 minutes we will interact with the shelter animals! Another WIN WIN!

 

Ageyouth ages 7-12 yrs (parents are welcome!)

Cost: FREE

Schedule: most Tuesdays during the school year

  • DOGS: 4:00-4:40 PM 
  • CATS: 4:50-5:30 PM

Group Size: is limited to 5 youth for dogs and 5 youth for cats.

If your child is interested you will need to reserve their spot ahead of time for either DOGS, CATS or both. 

Requirements:

  • Youth need to bring their own books and plan on reading for 20 minutes. 
  • A youth waiver must be signed by a parent or legal guardian on first visit.
