Thinking about applying to be a Cache Humane Society Volunteer?  We hope you have read the Basic Volunteer Requirements. It's not all kitten cuddling and dog walking! (Although luckily for us, that is a big part of it!)

There are lots of ways you can help us. Before you fill out your application, think about how you would like to help the most, by looking at the  Volunteer Opportunities. Hopefully something there will grab your interest!

Once you have made sure, you meet all the basic requirements, and know what area of shelter life interests you the most, download and fill out the simple Application Form. You cannot submit it here online, please email it to or hand in personally at the CHS front desk.

It is important that you must have a valid email address, Your application will be rejected without one. Email is the quickest way for the volunteer coordinator to keep you updated, about rules, protocols and new opportunities  when you become a volunteer!

What Happens Next?

You will usually be contacted within 2 weeks of submitting your application. If your application is accepted and we have an appropriate volunteer position for you,  you will be invited by email to attend an interview, tour of the shelter and initial training.

It is important to check your, email including spam or junk regularly once you submit your form, so you do not miss your appointment. If you do not hear from the volunteer coordinator within 2 weeks, please ensure your email address is correct and clearly legible, then resend your form.

If successful at interview,  you will then be invited to attend the next available group orientation and training session, normally the following week. You will have to attend this, and read the Volunteer Handbook and Rules and Protocols for your area, before starting your regular volunteer shift.

We reserve the right to decline any application where the applicant either does not fulfill the basic requirements, does not attach a valid or legible email address,  or where we consider the applicant not suitable for a volunteer role with Cache Humane Society.

Thank you again for your interest in volunteering with Cache Humane Society. We look forward to having you as part of our team!
